Film cover magazine analysis and research

When looking at film magazine covers, it is important to establish what we need to include when making ours. ie we need to make sure we stick to the codes and conventions of magazine covers.
Above and below are two different magazines- Empire and Total Film. They are the two most popular film magazines in the UK and we thought it was important to decostruct these, just as we deconstruct trailers.

Also, searching around, I came across these cool magazine covers, which could give us inspiration, for example, especially the spiderman one, as the cover shows the 2 different sides of him- the good and the bad. This could be similar to our possible cover as we could show the two sides of the werewolf- man and beast.
There are a couple of other more niche market magazines such as 'Gorezone' which we are looking into as well as this relates directly to our chosen genre, horror and the supernatural. The title of the magazine is almost always written in red, with the black outline which connotates horror, death, evil and of course gothicism. The back ground is often white which makes the image of the person/supernatural being the hook and focus. For this reason we would have to ensure our image of the werewolf is perfect as we would be totally reliant on this as a selling point.
