As there is an option to create a film website for our trailer, it is essential that we research what makes film websites so good and what are the codes and conventions of them. ie What we MUST include.
Below I have analysed the Saw franchise main website and the individual Saw 6 website...

Film cover magazine analysis and research
When looking at film magazine covers, it is important to establish what we need to include when making ours. ie we need to make sure we stick to the codes and conventions of magazine covers.
Above and below are two different magazines- Empire and Total Film. They are the two most popular film magazines in the UK and we thought it was important to decostruct these, just as we deconstruct trailers.
Also, searching around, I came across these cool magazine covers, which could give us inspiration, for example, especially the spiderman one, as the cover shows the 2 different sides of him- the good and the bad. This could be similar to our possible cover as we could show the two sides of the werewolf- man and beast.
There are a couple of other more niche market magazines such as 'Gorezone' which we are looking into as well as this relates directly to our chosen genre, horror and the supernatural. The title of the magazine is almost always written in red, with the black outline which connotates horror, death, evil and of course gothicism. The back ground is often white which makes the image of the person/supernatural being the hook and focus. For this reason we would have to ensure our image of the werewolf is perfect as we would be totally reliant on this as a selling point.Thursday, 16 September 2010

FILMING - LOCATION DUNGENESS - 17TH OCTOBER 2010
Today we began our filming and we started with the opening sequence in dungeness. Overall, we got an amazing amount of footage . and managed to get everything from our storyboard in the shots. - plus extra.

Full moon filming
As we are creating a werewolf teaser, the notion of the full moon is an integral part of our product. We have researched and discovered that the next full moon is tomorrow (23/09/2010) so we have planned to book out a couple cameras and film as much of it as possible!
'Werehouse' Filming
Today we did our third filming for our teaser trailer. We filmed an abadoned werehouse in kings hill to establish a more specific location.
we will incoperate this into our teaser in the fast cut parts.
the next part of filming is the werewolf part .

FILMING : WEEKEND OF 6th and 7th November.
This past weekend, we filmed some new footage for our film, as our previous footage consisted on focusing on the tranquility of Dungeness. In this filming we have focused on the opposite. We filmed lots of blood and gut sequences, for use in our fast cut sequences. while also filming some sort of narrative that we could put through our teaser.

Props research
Werewolf ears- could use during transformation stage | <><><><><><> >>>>>>
Werewolf hand no.1- could be perfect for the 'wolfman' esque hand shot we are looking to include |
We were discussing use of props & decided to take a trip to Bluewater to look around in the fancy dress shops etc. We have previously found some really good masks online, but the props shown here are more in our price range, however we are still looking into the others.
Bloody chainsaw- could use in many ways- protagonist for fighting off werewolf. Or could place inside the gates of the abandoned 'were'house, which connates something horrible is going on inside. |
Werewolf mask no.1- Very realistic.. especially if we only use quick shots of it, close up shots would give away that its only a fake mask |

Make up
We have heard of a make-up company opening up within side the grounds of a school nearby - however due to circumstances we found out that it actually never happend.
Anyway...We have followed up on prosthetics to use on an actor and come across this site
http://www.mostlydead.co.uk/index.html
this site does everything that to my knowledge is what we need - looking on the prosthetics they do ..they do supple a full head prosthetic , that will be able to be tightened because of the liquid latecs you use.
anyway i have had a look around and it looks very promising - it is a US based company and will cost money. however it helps ! and will aid us very much
they also do vampire foreheads, that are more 'browed' - and show anger...which are just the prosthetics rather than coloured prosthetics so we could also purchase these and use as a werewolf :)

props bought
After our prop research trip to bluewater, we have looked around elsewhere and decided on a lot of the props we want to embed into our teaser. I was in bluewater again so purchased the werewolf gloves and fake ears, but we have since decided on using another mask due to costing.
Also, last week (23/9/2010) it was a full moon, so we booked out two cameras and filmed all we could. The footage is now up on the macs ready to be edited.

More Costume research
I have just trawled the internet for more ideas
for costuming when regarding the character
of the werewolf and I came across this. Although
expensive this mask has high amounts of realism
and detail (especially around the mouth where
a lot of masks do not) and I feel it could work
really well particually for the quick flash type shots
we intent to use in our trailer. Also another
advantage to this mask is that it covers part of
the torso aswell, this would allow us to 'clothe' the
'werewolf' whilst keeping the face and neck flawless.
Blood testing
As we want our teaser trailer to be as realistic as possible, and as we are doing a horror, we felt it highly important to get a realisitic looking blood in order to make video convinsing, between us we have come up with lots of different recipies for blood. we decided to test them out on clothing as thats where most of our blood would come from in our film, here are our results;
