The Wolfman: Teaser Trailer

  •  The beginning of the opening is set in a sequence of shots, that although are daunting in appearance (due to dark lighting) they show the calm of the surrounding area
  • The trailer has no specific narrative sequence; there is no sense of continuation, therefore the narrative isn’t given away but a clear idea of genre is given.
  • The production company is Universal and the logo is used to mimic and merge with the moon, therefore showing unity between the brand and the company
  • Close ups of faces to show emotions, usually negative (aggression/fear)
  • Lots of stereotypical codes and conventions of werewolf horror were featured clearly within the trailer with up to 5 seconds being dedicated to the objects themselves, these included : the moon, shows of woods and silver bullets.
  • The film is filled with fast paced editing held together by quick transitions and flashes, due to the speedy nature of the trailer there were very little shots that included the full image of the werewolf, they were often things such as arms and legs.
  • The horror element of the film was reinforced with torture elements and a series of mutated images and shots of death.
  • There is an eerie soundtrack which is interrupted by dialogue from the film, the dialogue is significant and creates the impression of character and narrative.
